Can you write a 12 word story?

12words

Writing or reading stories that make people think, feel, learn, love etc, is hard enough
…let alone write a story with a limit of 12 words that can do some or all of that!

This is what I’ve recently discovered at 12words.com.au. Or on Twitter @12words #12words
It’s highly addictive, not just just as a “writer” but as a reader as well.
What have others written about? What can I come up with that says enough of what I need it to say?

Some good/clever/moving ones:

“Font type: Scribble. Font size: Extra small. Milk, Eggs, Bread, Tissues, Time.” – by Psychomachia

“You’ve hit the wall. So; slam into it again. Beat it down!” – by Penny

“Chairs. He kept three in his house. He only really needed one.” – by nlfharrison

“She deleted his facebook profile, therefore she deleted him from her life.” -by Sophie

“Wish the monsters were under the bed, rather than on the streets” – by kaitlynfall

“she didnt believe in angels until she jumped and the knoose broke.”  – by dakdak926

“You and I, we’re the same – we live, love, dream, die.” – by Syl

“He stood tall. He cried no tears. He died alone.” – by Lexie_lex

The hilarious ones:

“Our cave is better now; there’s a TV on the wall.” – by mfx1r

“I still believe in a god. Please reward my ignorance with bliss.” – by lewisj86

“Max released a slow, bubbling fart and waited for the office uproar.” – by gabbymac

“Inebriated, infatuated, manipulated — his wallet alleviated, carkeys soon confiscated; he walked home.” @mehtoole

My own attempts!:

“The birds saw her as their toilet. She was lucky like that.”

“Dear Earth, how are you, my home? Sincerely, takecare or goodbye”

“Old. Gran closes her eyes, takes last breath of air, goodbye world.”

“bbrrRROOVVMmm. ErrRRreekKKkk. BOOM! bbRrOOvVmm. eeRReeekk. BBRROOoovmmm…It was a Hit-&-Run.”

I started thinking, is this another way the web has really brought together or ‘created’ a community of
people who, only a few years ago or even before this website was up… together?
Are we communicating? (- yes we are in a way that an author communicates their story)
It’s not exactly a forum…there’s a voting system, but everyone seems so invisible,
and there are no “star writers”. Are people reading each others stories with an open heart or is it a competition?
Do the stories have enough weight or meaning, or are they rubbish, what’s the website’s purpose?
Perhaps it’s simply another timewasting fun and “creative” thing to do on the web like youtubing, blogging, tweeting, facebooking and for ubergeeks like me, I guess 12wording is now added to the mix.
